Meyer, Bohl and Fagnilli lead winners in Bowling Green

(9-2-2015) BOWLING GREEN, KY – Randy Meyer and Andy Bohl led the list of winners this weekend at Beech Bend Raceway Park and the NHRA North Central Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Meyer, from Spring Hill, Kansas set the track record, and led the field in qualifying, as he captured his first win of the year by defeating Jared Dreher, Clinton, Ind., with a lap of 5.316 seconds at 271.95 mph. Dreher, the No. 2 qualifier, progressed each round with a 5.422, 264.86 pass in the final for a runner up finish.

In the Top Alcohol Funny Car final, Bohl of Racine, Wis., faced off against Todd Robertson, Harrison Twp., Mich. Robertson, the No. 4 qualifier, had a nice reaction time at the tree and was on his way to the win until his car slowed, and Bohl, the No 3 qualifier was uncontested after that. Bohl was consistent in running in the 5.6's... [Read More]

Defending Pro Stock Indy winner Shane Gray eager to follow up prestigious Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals victory

(9-2-2015) BROWNSBURG, IN – Pro Stock driver Shane Gray is grateful for each of his four career NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series wins and has a particular place for each Wally.

But the trophy he won at last year’s Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, the world’s most prestigious drag race, seems to get a little more of the spotlight in Gray’s personal collection.

"That trophy has a special place,” Gray said. “We keep the trophies together in my office there at home, but this one is on a stand a little apart from the other ones."

The marquee moment in Gray’s career was one of the highlights of last year’s memorable event at venerable Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. To top it, or at least match Gray’s first career win at the biggest event of the... [Read More]

Gaydosh ready to check off the “Big One” in Indy

(9-2-2015) BALTIMORE, MD – In 2015, the Gaydosh Performance team has qualified for every NHRA Pro Stock event attempted; however the one race they have yet to add to their resume would be the U.S Nationals at the famous Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana. John Gaydosh and his Gaydosh Performance team has attempted to qualify for this prestigious event five times previously but has fallen short of making the sixteen-car field the toughest event of the season. This year Gaydosh Performance looks to change their qualifying record by not only making the field but also getting their first round win in NHRA Pro Stock.

Gaydosh Performance has improved their program from the ground up with engines and a Gray Motorsports Camaro. Driver John Gaydosh has been improving his on track performance; he constantly has the better reaction time of many of his... [Read More]

NEOPMA thrills fans at Rumble at the Grove

(9-2-2015) MOHNTON, PA – The dog days of summer are still a big part of Pro Modified drag racing competition in our NEOPMA series as temperatures always effect performances but Maple Grove’s Annual “Rumble At The Grove” was surely a surprise when the qualifying and early testing began on Friday evening but we’ll get to that in the final qualifying recap. Our first trip to Maple Grove of the season was a welcomed homecoming on the mountainous scenic legendary track.

The stunning backdrop of this national facility is one of the finer parts of being at this track on race day. As the oppressive heat gave way to the cooling temps as the sun began to drop the gorgeous sunset we all witnessed allowed for the first round of qualifying to begin in this beautiful setting. Track prep was defiantly on point for this session as an early field had 12 cars taking in the... [Read More]

Six-time U.S. Nationals winner Anderson wants another

(9-2-2015) MOORESVILLE, NC – Last year at this time, Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson was in a whole different position. He entered the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals fighting for the No. 10 spot in the points and hanging on by a thread. Ultimately, he lost in the first round and forfeited the chance to race for the championship for the first time in his career. This season marks a drastic departure from that bleak scene, and Anderson is preparing for the best at the 61st annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis.

To ensure a good race that will launch a strong Countdown to the Championship performance, Anderson and the KB Racing team spent a solid two days testing at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte last week.

"Our test went well, and we definitely learned a few things,"... [Read More]

JEGS.com Pro Mod duo like their chances at upcoming U.S. Nationals

(9-2-2015) DELAWARE, OH – The summer break is over, multiple test runs have been made, and JEGS.com Pro Mod drivers Troy Coughlin and son Troy Coughlin Jr. are mentally prepared for the challenge ahead: winning the 61st annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals. The only thing left to do is get to work.

"We're definitely ready to get over there and get started," said past series champion Troy Coughlin, who enters the race just five points out of first place in the J&A Service Pro Mod Series presented by JEGS.com. "We've had two months off, which allowed the guys to go over both cars from one end to the other, and we've just finished up a couple of days of testing to make sure everything is working properly. There is nothing left to do but race."

Coughlin has conquered the sport's greatest in the past, becoming... [Read More]

Line seeking first Indy win and big points payoff at U.S. Nationals

(9-2-2015) MOORESVILLE, NC – There are very few racetracks where Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock racer Jason Line has not seen the inside of the winner's circle. It may be difficult to believe, but Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis is one of the facilities where Line, a 12-year veteran of the category, has yet to score a Wally trophy. This weekend at the 61st annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, Line hopes to right that wrong and come out on top. It would mean a whole lot more this season as he is No. 4 in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series standings, and points are valued at one and a half times their normal worth at this year's rendition of the esteemed event before the field is set for the Countdown to the Championship playoffs.

If one were to be particular, Line has actually won at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. In... [Read More]

U.S. Nationals will be another to remember for Gray Motorsports

(9-1-2015) DENVER, NC – The Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals is the grandest race on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour, and the historic event is held on the hallowed grounds of Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. Undeniably, the once-yearly event is the race to win, and last season, Gray Motorsports NHRA Pro Stock driver Shane Gray was the guy to do it in an all-Gray Motorsports final round that the team will never forget. The weekend ahead at the 61st annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals is already slated to be one that will long live in the memory of the Gray Motorsports group.

Multi-time Indy winner Jeg Coughlin Jr. ready to start this year's quest

(9-1-2015) DELAWARE, OH – Five-time Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. returns to action at this weekend's 61st annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals with impeccable credentials at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. He has claimed drag racing's crown jewel four times, thrice in Pro Stock (2000, '02, and '09) and once in Super Gas (1992).

But for all his past glory at the sport's oldest and longest-running meet, Coughlin says nothing matters besides the task at hand: winning this year's race.

"The history, the success we've had, it's all good," said Coughlin, who last raced a month ago in Seattle, where he was runner-up. "But as we say, there are no provisionals in drag racing. That's one of the things we love; you have to prove yourself each and every weekend. Having won before or being a past series... [Read More]

Bluegrass blues for Snyder

(8-31-2015) BOWLING GREEN, KY – Fresh off their PDRA Racing Memphis Drags Top Sportsman crown, Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team traveled to Beech Bend Raceway Park for the NHRA Division 3 Lucas Oil Regional in Bowling Green, KY. This race capped off the Snyder Motorsports’ Mid-Western Swing and the first half of their 2015 Schedule. The 4-time Season Champs brought their unconventional supercharged, electric fuel injected combination to the track for the fourth weekend in a row to take on a tough Top Sportsman field of bracket Pro Mods.

The three-day event proved to be a little up and a lot down for the Snyder Motorsports team. During the first qualifying session, the Powersource Transportation “Orange Menace” Corvette ran a 6.370 at 210.67, which put the team second heading into the final day of qualifying. Unfortunately, parts failure on that pass would... [Read More]
